The proposed ban on pythons is a political diversion tactic the politicians in this country are utilizing to try and keep their jobs.
I am sure you are aware that we are in a recession here in the U.S. (as is the rest of the world.) there is concern about that, the resulting unemployment ( figures were just updated today there are 8 million unemployed in U.S. as opposed to the previous figure of 7 million.) people here are losing their homes, we are involved in two unpopular wars that the majority of the people here would like to see us get out of. We have an unresolved health-care crisis and a soaring deficit. Our governments response to this was to bail out a bunch of the ceos who turned around and gave all their higher-ups a bunch of bonuses via our tax dollars.
Quite honestly the citizens of America are ticked off with the status quo of both parties in power and they know it. There is going to be a serious house cleaning in the govt. here in Nov.
Their answer to try and stop the bleeding is to attempt to enact legislation like the python bill to make it look like they are doing something in hopes to keep their jobs. Hopefully we will weather thru this political storm and still be able to keep our pets. You can rest assured that a good bunch of these goofballs will be fired however come November no matter what shenanigans they pull in the meantime.
