Cobra's can't strike upwards. Well I don't know if I should say can't. I will say I have never seen one do so. Because they strike downwards snakes charmers are able to put their hands on the animals hoods, top of their heads, and do the kiss of death amoung other things. If they had fangs hinged fangs like a viper they would be able to tag you upward easily.
My Pair of true Pure Indian Cobra's. You don't see these around anymore, the pair has been breeding non-stop lately!:
