Below you stated that hurricane andrew is not an excuse for escapees, and it is not. You keep implying its the pet trade at fault. But you do realize that the source of these escapes is not wholesale dealers in hialeah, by the airport, or even in kendall? That there were no wholesalers period within LOTS miles of ENP, or tamiami trail past dade corners during andrew? You obviously know that it is largely claimed by "researchers" within themselves that they originated from tamiami trail roadside ZOOs. Such is the thought from FWC. Please stop implying its the PET TRADES fault for releases/escapees.

It is a known fact that after andrew, FWC did nothing to find "snakes" but everything else to catch "injurious" wildlife such as big cats, big game, and primates. Was not a problem nor priority at the time. They are there in times of emergency to help round up animals, and will bulldoze through walls, fences, etc to help a known licensed person recover animals.

I fault the researchers and propaganda stunts for actually giving the idea for people to release them currently. Any new blood lines found in recent times or future will no doubtedly be becuase someone had a snake, and realized that hey, they say so many people are letting them go, why not me? When as a pet store, I have people coming in and stating they had no idea if they let their snake go it would survive. "we didnt know it couldnt eat white rats" and live. Heard this from SEVERAL individuals while discussing the situation with large contrictors.

Easy as that, and REALITY.

All this propoganda and false statements have and will probably ADD to the problem.
