I've yet to have an animal die from electrocution.. GFI's all the way and I am cautious to protect ANY electrical devices going into the enclosures. I had a friend who's dwarf crocodile bit a heater with no GFIs around christmas and zapped itself but I was able to take the carcass and skin it and remove the tissue from the skull for a project for school (I'm finishing up a Fish and Wildlife program)..
