Contrary to these other posts, Gambian Pouched rats are NO LONGER BANNED IN THE UNITED STATES. However, their importation is banned. The only way to acquire one now is to find somebody that kept their pets during the ban and bred them. If nobody did this, then they are effectively gone from America. I repeat, it is NOT ILLEGAL TO OWN ONE NOW, JUST ILLEGAL TO IMPORT.
