There is no need to buy your male gecko a 'friend' be it another crested gecko or some other species. I also feel it puts way too much stress to have a female in there with him if your intention is not to incubate the eggs. Laying eggs puts alot of stress on a female, not to mention having a male constantly around wanting to mate.
Your male has survived fine for over a year now, from what you indicated above, he can survive and thrive alone for the rest of his life. Vocalizing in crested geckos is usually done to mark territories, when frightened and the like. He reason he's quiet is he has nothing to 'bark' at as he finally has his territory all to himself. ----- PHLdyPayne
