I think the bean/lentil mixes are not good for dehydrated animals due to pulling moisture from the gut with the dry mixes. I think after the animals have been fed a good diet with plenty of leafy greens and such, and you feel they are hydrated enough, go ahead and offer the bean/lentil mix.

As far as the other food sources, not really sure. They will eat edible flowers for sure, and I see no reason NOT to feed them in moderation, or as a treat. Why not? I am sure they feed on flowers when they bloom in their native habitat. I am sure their diets cycle in the wild based on time of year, rainfall, etc.
