I think you are going to get a lot of different answers. It varies with feeding frequency, set up conditions and the individual animal.
I have a 06 male that is around 9'. When I got him in 08, he was 6'. His first year with me, he traveled with me. Probably not ideal for him but that was the situation we had to deal with. Last year he developed a mouth infection and went off feed for about 3 months. He is undersize for his age, but he will be fine and I think he will eventually reach 11'-13'.
I also have a 08 female that is 5'. She eats everything in sight.
I have heard people say that their animals have reached incredible sizes in short period of time. While there is nothing wrong with allowing them to blow up, I am of the school of thought that my retics will eventually be massive animals and I would rather enjoy their smaller sizes while I can.
