Apparently he almost accidentally stepped on it within an hour of arriving at his campsite, and it had a calm disposition and just left for this brush. I'm not up on my rattlesnake species at all. From quickly looking at some internet pictures, it looks like Crotalus ruber - the red diamond rattlesnake. Any help? Thanks.
