Scientists working with blood samples from introduced everglades pythons have found a property that seems to stop all cancers in lab experiments. This was found accidentally while performing an unrelated trial with mice that had been part of a cancer trial. Examination of these mice revealed no cancer detectable after the seventy day test period. Mice exhibiting the missing cancers were used in the unrelated trial testing mercury contamination in feral pythons. The property present in the feral everglades pythons is not present in imported non-feral specimens examined so far. The cure to cancer may be in the feral Burmese python population now nearly established in south Florida.
