If you dont know exactly when they hatched, basically you can only tell if they are adult or not as far as I know. Very old animals will have smoother shells as their growth rings wear down with age. At six to 8 years old, they may not be old/large enough to breed. Its mainly a size thing and I would suspect yellowfoots being larger than redfoots would need to be bigger, maybe 10-12 inches long?? Regardless, you are aware these guys live for QUITE a long time?? Probably a good forty plus years or more LOL!! So, a 10 year old red or yellowfoot is probably JUST hitting their breeding stride. I hope someone with more experience on age/breeding replies. I currently have a 6 to 7 year old redfoot that is about 8 inches long and close to breeding size. I also have a cb08 yellowfoot and cb08 redfoot that are about four inches long. I love these mellow guys!!

Good luck and enjoy!!
