Retics are very interesting and rewarding captive snakes but also very large and powerful. I usually recommend getting larger snake experience with a boa and then a burm. But some jump right into retics. There is also the super dwarf retic option. Reticulated pythons can exhibit explosive growth when fed often-as much as a foot a month. Do a lot of research, read everything you can find, and then locate a retic keeper with adults near you. Spend some real time with adult retics and the keeper. Handle them and see them eat.
