this story myself, and while I'm no gator expert that explanation sounds a little out there to me. First, I'm not sure an alligator would go into shutdown mode when a large snake is trying to eat it. Again, I'm not an alligator expert, maybe I'm wrong. Secondly, that large of a meal for 13ft burm would have taken hours to get down. The alligator would not be able to breath pretty much that whole time. Third, it the gator got out that much the rest of the way should have been pretty easy. Last, I don't see how the tail of the gator got out of the snake. To me, it would have had to of been pulled out by someone or something. The way the snake is laying it looks like someone or something pulled the tail of the gator out.

I don't really buy that it exploded either. What seems much more logical to me is someone probably found the snake and cut it open to see what was in it. Perhaps it was recently dead already from eating that big of a meal. Or maybe another gator saw that snake trying to swim and thought it was injured since it was surely not swimming normally with that big of a meal in it.
