I forgot to mention that cannibalism of males by female greens is not uncommon in wild populations. However, I have never heard of this occurring with captive greens. The qualifier in my opinion would be the access to an adequate food supply in captivity. Some of the female greens in a wild population would be looking to supplement their energy intake for the upcoming pregnancy, and if they were currently slightly lacking in body mass and energy reserves, they apparently are not opposed to using the male after his reproductive efforts are concluded.
