I have two sub-adult red tegus & I recently built an outdoor setup for them. Given their nature to dig down into their substrate, I placed screen beneath my outdoor setup. Anyway, yesterday was their 1st day in the enclosure & they seemed to like it a lot. However, when I checked on them this morning, one of them must have dug into the soil. The problem is that when they dig, they do a fantastic job of covering their tracks so you cannot tell where they dug. My question: How the heck do I find the one tegu now? Is there anything to lure them out? Also... I live near Philadelphia and it was very warm out yesterday. Could the temps still be too cool for them? Oh... and I also have a large hide area for them.
