Google copperhead, and rattle snake while you are at it, you will see that they are nothing like rat snakes and are pretty recognizable. The fact is that there are very few snakes that will actually come after people with the intention of doing them harm, and as far as I know there aren't any mambas in texas, Florida maybe. This may seem a little crazy to you,but even venomous snakes do not wish to hurt you, they don't eat people and do not actively hunt us. If you do see a copperhead or a rattle snake, just give them some space. Pick up a long stick and nudge them away if you feel uncomfortable, but there is no need to kill them.
