make sure you provide good temperatures, but not too hot.. He will move to the warm end if he feels cool, just make sure there are secure hides on the warm side too.

Shredded paper should break down alright in the stomach even if some is eaten with prey items...just make sure he doesn't end up eating a whole lot of it.
