Having kept corn and king snakes, what I can tell you is that if there is a possibility that a snake can escape in a certain way, they eventually will do so, out of boredom if nothing else. I actually had a corn climb the wire for her temperature probe and get out that way.

My male Dumerils will never even look at his lid, but our new female seems obsessed with hers. So i'd be very wary of that 'remote possibility'. I'll look at the cage designs and see what I can do. I'm an engineer, so we'll be able to figure something out.
