The one other thing to do is repot the plant into new potting soil that does not contain perlite or systemic fertilizers or pesticides. Big commercial nurseries often put systemics in the soil so the plant absorbs them over time. Cham have been known to shoot and eat the "interesting" white perlite off the top of the soil. If you want to help the pot drain well (one reason for using perlite) you can put some pebbles in the bottom of the pot instead. Or, to keep the cham from getting any of the potting soil on its tongue you can put some large river stones or window screen over the soil surface.
