A guy I know has decided to get rid of his 11 year old California Kingsnake. It is about 4 feet long. I feel bad for the snake and agreed to take it. I'll be getting it on Monday.

Can anyone give me any advice? I've only kept corn snakes and a ball python. I plan on keeping the kingsnake in a 20 long or a 40 gallon terrarium with coconut chip bedding and using a heat mat. Of course it'll have a bowl of water and at least one hiding space. It'll also have a climbing tree.

He also said it's pretty friendly and easy to handle, but snaps every once in a while. Should I use a hook to pick it up? Should I leave a sweaty shirt in to get it use to my sent? Should I leave it alone for 2 weeks so it can get use to it's surroundings?
