I've had my spec for over 15 years, she's pushing 5 1/2 feet. Never once was I bitten. Up until she was 4 feet I could hold her and lay her on my chest as I was watching football on the couch. However with life changes and free time limited, the past 4-5 years she hasn't been handled. Her temperament is unknown and with her size and power its best to let her be. However I'm setup a whole new setup this fall, so moving her shall be interesting.
