The loss of a tail won't affect a male's ability to breed. Unless the tail was cut off, instead of naturally dropped, the hemipenes are within the 'bulges' which are at the base of the tail. All tailless males I have seen still have the bulges, so their organs are safe.

Females are unaffected by tail loss either.
