Initially it would be okay, but if you feed them alot they will foul the aquarium fast. You might want to take him out to feed him in a smaller container that way you will keep the aquarium cleaner for a longer time.
I do that with a 2 year old musk turtle that's in a 20 gallon tank with an undergravel filter and I only have to clean it out about every 3 months.
