I have your same concerns....
I see people selling flames on the internet and the color is all flecked (dulled and turning black...vinny is the one who introduced me to this term, I'm not sure if it is industry standard or a crazy scientist term)out. Basically, if you see a sand boa with flecking in the color, it's not a dodoma or flame. If you see a sand boa with reduced pattern, clean color and eye stripes, it probably is not a dodoma, it is a flame.
I think if there was an industry standard and it was pushed then we could educate what is and what is not...quite frankly, because of the low cost even for high end sand boas, I just don't think the commercial breeders care to try and be closer with their descriptions. IMHO.
