as far as it goes...while dwarf retics can get rather large (12' for a female, maybe a bit more), a male SD isn't going to be a big animal; mine's busy tapping some tail ATM, and weighs in around 1100-1400 grams (fluctuates). There's kingsnakes that get close to that size. So even if they are testy it isn't as big a deal. Not like an angry 15' one that can really hurt ya.
