This 3 year old axanthic shed out here the other day, and seems to finaly have reached its last phase of color change and grown into the "optimum" color so too say.
The "Swedish line" of Carpet axanthics hatch out crisp silver and jet black, but do put on a strange tan color between the age of 6-12 months witch keeps for a while, in this case 2,5 years.
Witch has made people doubt these realy are real axanthics, but there is no doubt about it and this picture is a evidence that its just a temporary condition if you have followed pictures of him trough times.
I think with selective breeding alot more can be done too axanthics color, too make the tan phase shorter or non-existant.
This is the animal that proved the "Swedish line" genetic at my faciltiy in 2007. A Jaguar probable het Axanthic from a 2005 (axanthix X jag) was breed to a unproven genetic axanthic of swedish origin and he and his het siblings was the result.
Sadly Iv not been abel to make more. But this season looks promising.
Hope you enjoyed the picture!
BTW no photoshopping beyound the logo has been done.
Bård
