That's an Italian Wall lizard, Podarcis sicula campestris. They were accidently released about 30 years ago by a pet shop wreck, and have established all over Nassau, Queens, and the Bronx (there, deliberately established by some fool named "Vinny" for the express purpose of providing him lizards to catch and sell on the internet--never mind deliberately spreading a non-native species).
They are little lacertids, and make interesting pets in a large long tank with climbing shelves and branches. The males have a larger head and elaborate "leopard-like" markings on their sides, some also showing small blue spots on their sides. Females have a simpler pattern of markings, with a pair of broken lines on their back which look like basting stitches.
