Anyone here ever catch something from their pets? (not salmonella please) I am asking somewhat out of curiousity and somewhat for info for my doctors. I have had a couple times with what seems like a rickettsia (think Rocky Mt Spotted Fever) but it wasn't one of the common ones tested for. We have it beaten back with antibiotics and I am sincerely hoping this last time is a LAST time. But we aren't sure.
Now the Drs are looking farther afield and wondering about my reptiles. The pulmonary guy thinks my birds. My GP is still pretty sure it is a rickettsia from a dog tick. (I own a boarding kennel)

My symptoms were essentially that of Rocky Mt Spotted Fever (the test for which came back negative a week after I got out of the hospital) Fever, rash, incredible (wish you could die- then afraid that you will) joint PAIN.
