Hey again. We've had a very wet Summer. My place has been hit directly by three tropical systems and when CAT-4 hurricane Karl slammed Veracruz, Mexico we got Gulf moisture and near tropical storm conditions..
.
On average, my place has had a little in excess of 1/2" of rain EVERYDAY so far this September! .. and that's after a near record wet Summer..
.
I keep most of my Chucks out of doors in habitats during the warm months and have been concerned for them because of the extra moisture.. their pens have flooded many times! Yet they have come through just fine.
.
It was bright and hot and sunny today for the first time in a week or more! Here's some photos. First, and adult Hispidus chuck..
.

.
.. a hatchling Puerto Penasco, Mexico chuck (approximately three weeks of age).
.

.
Now, what's this handsome older big adult doing?
.

.
.. apparently he's getting rid of excess moisture and minerals by heating up and expiring them from his nostrils. Look at this pretty juvenile to see more closely..
.

.
.. still can't see? Look closer.. the salt and mineral crystals are clearly visible on the nostrils.
.

.
Pretty neat stuff.. adios from all the family!
.

.
