This was such good news to hear that the snake was rescued.

The fire Dept. did a wonderful job. I want to say a big THANK YOU to each one of the firemen, for saving this beautiful snake.

And to the snake owner, I would just like to say: Please don't use a light in the snake cage for heat. A snake could get a very bad burn from a lightbulb in a cage, and it heats the whole cage,so the poor snake can't get away from the heat. Even heat rocks get too hot,and there have been burns from them.

Snakes just need undertank belly heat. and it helps digest their food. There are some really nice undertank heaters in different sizes, for use only under ONE END of the tank. The other end of the tank needs to be cool, where a nice size water tub should be for him to crawl in, since this type snake needs humidity and also so the snake can choose to go to that end if he wants to get away from the heat for awhile. And even undertank heaters need some space for heat release, so stick some rubber feet on the corners of the tank so the undertank heater won't be flat against the table or floor, which is not good. And PLEASE plug it into a RHEOSTAT, for safe heat control, that is IMPORTANT. These items can be purchased at the All Cleveland Reptile Show every month.

People there can help you with safety issues.

My Vet. recommends a good thickness of newspaper on the bottom of the tank as the best substrait. Thick, so the snake will not get burned through the glass, (enough heat will come through the paper to warm him) and paper is a good absorbent when they wet. I hope these suggestions will be of great help.

Your pet snake is beautiful, as I can see in the picture.

I pray you and your snake will have many years of good health and happiness.
