Two of this year's brood of five baby red-phase salt marsh mangrove watersnakes. Adorable but totally bottomless when it comes to eating. I suppose fish are not very filling so these little terrors eat every few days. At least they eat defrosted bait minnows so it's easy-peasy maintenance. The adults are too large for minnows so they eat fish caught from the lake behind my house. Good thing there's a lake behind my house.

For some reason, my mangroves have never switched to defrosted scented rodents like my NWS did. Now the NWS are eating unscented rodents, talk about easy-peasy. The mangroves are about as close as I'll ever get (or want) to a sea snake. Neat animals.
