I'm still newish to retics (been keeping them since 08).
But I've had a pretty wide array of growth rates. I've got a sibling pair that are...like sometime late 09 maybe? The female' 8' or a bit bigger, while the male is still 5-6, with the female being far bulkier as well. And a different one I got from the same breeder hit 10' quick as a shot (well within her first year) but has slowed down considerably despite still fairly heavy feeding, and is probably only 12-14 now (but has bulked up considerably). And a yellowhead I got from Bob Clark is now like 3 years or so old and still around 13', maybe a touch less. And an ill tempered cuss.
But 5' at 4 months isn't bad I don't think. He sounds a bit thin but they can grow like that; i was convinced I was doing somethign wrong with shiva cause he looked like a string bean for the longest time.

and yeah 7x3 should be big enough for a good long while, if not permanently (depends on how big yours get).

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.
