I don't know much about the species, so you'll have to do some more searching. I can suggest checking multiple sources (don't believe everything that you read but if you see it it multiple places, there is a greater chance it is true).

Many wild animal are in danger of goung extinct these days. Your question can be viewed 2 ways:

1) Are they legally designated as endangered? Given they live in Africa, probably not (most developing 3rd world nations don't give a crap about protecting reptiles)

2) Are they endangered in the sense that they may go extinct? Probably not range wide, since they have a large range, but they are probably in trouble in more populated areas and certain countries/regions.
