They are a beautiful species but I have not kept them. A friend of mine is the local breeder around here and he's had plenty of success. I don't have much help, but do recall he's had the most success with keeping the pairs together for the entire breeding season (or heck, the whole year minus the month around parturition); while most breeders I hear are always introducing and taking away.

Another thing I recal him talking about is that the offspring have a large percentage that are tough to start eating. He's tried the usual bag of tricks, but what he found works best is to leave the mouse in the cage way past the time that you would normally take it out. If it's not putrid and gross, then it's not ripe for the taking apparently
