Thanks Pat, I'd love to see them prove genetic, but I'm leaning toward a temp. deal during gestation. Here's what I "know". At Tinley this year we were getting ready to leave and my dad asked me what I thought of the Dumerils there. I said I wasn't impressed, didn't see any that I even considered "nice" and he asked if I saw the ones toward the back. I said no, so he showed me where they were. The guy was literally tucked in between tables and he had 4 babies. He didn't say too much, there were supposedly 11 babies, and he had sold the rest, these were still young enough to be picky feeders, etc. With the pattern I figured they'd all be males so I first checked sex and there was 3.1 so I put the female aside immediately then started looking them over. Two of the three males I couldn't entice to tongue flick and I didn't want to pull their mouths open to see if the tongue was laid out along the glotus as I've seen before in abberrant patterned Dumerils, so I just put those back. The pair I picked up both tongue flick just fine and feed well on rat pups, so that's promising. With the pattern and tongue issues I'm guessing something like temps played a role in the pattern, but it would be really cool to be able to replicate the look. My pics SUCK, they look way better in person. Most people wonder so I'll just put it out there, lol, I paid 150 for the pair. Still wonder if I should've just bought all 4 but if there's anything to it, two of them will be enough to find out. Definitely didn't get hurt for the price and they are just cool to look at.
