Many females will lay 6 clutches back to back once they get started. This takes a lot out of them. The greater the starting weight the better since it can be challenging sometimes to get their weight to fully recover between clutches. Even harder to get a growing dragon to gain weight during this time. It makes sense to wait until the dragon reaches their full size/weight potential.
