Cameron county Texas. 11/23/2010
.

.
.. that's the nascent bloom or fruit of the Sabal Palm.. it's a favorite snack of some rodents as well as the larvae of at least one particular beetle.. On the trail before full light it can get your heart a skippin'!
.
Here's the real finds of the day.. a juvenile Salvadora..
.

.

..
.. a five foot female Drymarchon.. what a beauty! ..she showed some attitude! .. but no harm done.
.

.

.
.. and another of these jewels (Drymobius). a juvenile! (rare find).
.

.

.
Oh! this is what a real Cameron County Leptodeira looks like..
.

.
. the only thing else worth note is that the Rio Grande at this point is finally going down! You have to see the tracks in the new mud-banks to believe them!
.
Thanks!
.
