I have a large outdoor summer cage for my tegu. In his summer cage he cold dig burrows, get dirty search for his food and get lots of natural sunlight. I usually pull him back indoors around Columbus Day before it gets too cold. He is usually dug down about 4 feet with a nest.
This year I waited too long and it got too cold. The funny thing is that he didn't dig a burrow. He was just hiding under a piece of debris that he likes. I think if he dug down he wold have been OK. I have an idea about why he didn't....but it's likely just my fault to being late.
Sincerely,
Brian
