At 4.5' he still has some growing to do. If he looks nice and lean like a JCP should and his food energy is going to growth not fat then I feel you're fine with this. He apparently is having no problems processing meals of this size. If I were to guess I would say he's probably shed at least 2 times since you got him and probably getting ready to go blue if he isn't already.
I let my babies and juvie snakes tell me how much they want to eat. I offer it, if they eat it, process it and come out acting hungry within about 5 days then I see it as proper feeding as it's all going to growth. Nothing wrong with maximizing the growth potential of a young animal. As adults I limit their feedings to maitain good weight but not get fat.
