John,

Bays are solid rosies. I had some I raised up. The female got quite large and was not trustworthy during early Spring when she fed voraciously. After Spring she was fine to hold. That started after about 2 -3 yrs of age.



Very tough, strong snakes, can handle captivity just fine.



My advice is to feed when they are hungry. Rosies are quite self-limiting. They are not like kingsnakes which will keep eating. Rosies will feed when hungry and will turn their nose when not. More like boa constrictors in that regard.



Bay of LAs can vary a bit as far as brightness of the stripes, per usual for rosies. There are some quite stunning BofLAs out there, brighter than most but hard to come by.
