The Ragged Fringed Orchids in this set always remind me of Mr. Bill from the early Saturday Night Live skits... they resemble tiny little stick figures screaming out OHH NOOO!!!

Another orchid in this set... the Rams Head Ladys Slipper... is globally rare. A friend, and the states leading botanist, was kind enough to show me a stand of them back in the mid 80's. Back then there were better than 500 plants... last year there were less than 30. Another rare orchid at the same site ...numbering over 200 in the 80's... has also dwindled to around 30 specimens as well... during those 25 years the moist cedar swamps they are found in have all but dried up... in the 80's you needed boots to stay dry while getting to them... last year my sneakers didn't even get damp...

Anyway, hope you all had a great New Year and hope you all have an even better year.

Gerry
