Hello all,
Recently I've been giving more thought into different larger reptile caging/"reptile sheds" out of shear boredom, lol. But I do believe I've came up with a few good ideas and wanted to see if either they've already been used or even give other hobbyists ideas.
First, was a insulated shed type thing, I'm positive its been used many time before, but I did have another idea how to use them. I figured instead of making a large cage for Varanids, tegus, retics, and other large reptiles, to block off part of shed with a solid wall or with thick gauged steel wiring, such as cattle panels. Although with the wiring, it would be harder to maintain certain temperatures and humidity without doing so with the entire building.
Another idea I had was using an old shipping container. Many are used for garden offices, housing, etc. But I've never seen them used for reptile habitats. The down fall is with the metal used in making it, if the temperatures rise, so does the container. You would have to insulate the inside with brick or some other material.
I hope someone can use this, and if someone here has used these ideas, I would be more than interested in hearing about them and seeing pictures.
