If the wood has been out of use for that long, it doesn't harbor mite eggs and is obviously not growing mushrooms, so there is likely nothing there to do anything..

Another good method is to soak the wood for a good 10 minutes or more in a bleach solution (in a bathtub for example. Cleans the bathtub too.)
