Not sure what kind of minnow you are referring to but think about what your animal would do in the wild. It may find a small water hole in drought conditions with small fish flopping around and eat it's fill. It may not find that scenario again for awhile. Alligators are opportunistic so they will eat anything they think they can fit in their mouths. So to answer your question, feeder fish are fine every once in awhile. Whole cut up fish would also be suitable and better for feedings.
