The Wood Lily is fairly common here in Maine, despite the name it is almost always found in open fields with sandy soil or along road sides.

It does occur down into Kentucky so Tennessee is certainly not out of the question. I similar species, the Southern Red Lily, does grow in the south but I'm uncertain as to how far north it ranges.
