A nice aspect to keeping these sandboas is that they seem so happy in rather small, sparse cages, which makes the whole compartmentalization method in the hobby perfectly suited for these snakes. Same with rosyboas.

Overall their metabolisms are a bit slower, so less food per snake per year compared to kings and corns. However, sandboas can and will eat alot during certain periods, so this is not to say withold food, it is just to point out a nice benefit to keeping these snakes.

Sandboas are nice if you have to leave town for a week or two. They are fine with nothing during that time - food or water.

On the flip side, not a very dynamic, interactive snake.
