In my experience green iguanas need quite a bit of carbohydrate and protein in their diet. When I say protein, I mean plant protein. Animal protein will shorten their life span and make them die agonizing death. Iguanas need protein to build strong muscles since they do climb a lot. I know the Ctenosaura can be fed insects and a little mice, which you should.... Cyclura can be fed some insects and animal protein, but not a lot, according to a lot of people. You can give them plant protein like alfalfa leaves that you can get from health food store or website that you can mix right into the salad. A lot of food, like, hard veggies such as parsnips, green beans, asparagus are good food to add to increase the nutrition value. Parsnips is quite the most nutritious veggies in the world...follow by asparagus. They also contain a lot of roughage and carbohydrate that these guys need. The carb helps fuel the metabolism and thus help regulate hormonal balanced which helps them grow, eat better, and a lot of other stuff. Winter squash is also great for this reason, plus, it contains a lot of beta-carotene and vitamin A which is necessary for vibrant healthy skin, and thus make them shed better. A good site for making iguana salad can be found on this site: www.anapsid.org

The Mazuri food you're feeding is great because it adds some of the vitamins and minerals that may be missing in his diet. But I would caution in feeding them dry because the gut has to pull out quite a bit of water to digest dry food, which can lead to dehydration. You wanna moisten the food before serving it....
