use an elevated basking spot

If you use an elevated basking spot, you can pull 120F basking surface temps using a 25 watt lamp bulb very easily. We use Retes stacks that we make here at the shop, they provide not only a wide temp gradient, but additional hide spots as well.

This picture is a good visual, taken from a Uro setup. Basking temps on top of that stack are 150F , dropping about 10-15 degrees per level, and that is a 50 watt halogen bulb.

We have setup hundreds of 10 and 20 gallon glass tanks with Retes stacks for a super wide temp gradient in a super small environment.
