Recently recieved a paleosuchus palpebrosus on wends afternoon. I have been researching and planning for this animal for well over 15 years. So I do understand the husbandry requirements that are involved. My question is, how long can these animals go without eating before there is a need for concern. Here is some background on the animal. water temp is 82 degreees, basking area is sitting right around 97-98, water depth is 7 to 8 " and animal has adequate land and water with a very nice heat gradient, low end 81 high end 98. Since I have had the animal, I have not handled it, or moved anything in the enclosure. Foot traffic in front of the enclosure is minimal. I have left pinks and shrimp on a rock for him to eat at leisure, as well as having a half dozen danios, and 5-6 small crickets in the enclosure. I know that these animals require an acclimation period before they can de stress, I am simply worried that going more than a few days without eating could be harmful. If you can offer any help it would be greatly appreciated.
