Greetings all! Been forever and a half since I posted on Kingsnake (let's just say I've been away on life's many adventures and now have some time. hehe)
Anyhoo, thought I'd contribute a great page for wanting to know about the different breeds and colors of rodentia. I too would LOVE to produce a BEW (black-eyed white) and am always on the lookout for new, fun mice. Presently, I have some fun colors, but would love to trade with anyone in the So Cal area that also shares this interest. Yes, I breed mine for 2 reasons, fun pets as well as high quality feeders. I get the quirky eye from strictly pet mouse breeders but if you choose to keep a predator in your house (ie lizards that eat mice, snakes, etc.) you choose to fulfill their food requirements. I keep the nicest, best mice for pets and weed out the less desirable stock as feeders (ie high aggressors, etc.) I know, touchy subject for those that believe in only one way or the other but people raise cattle as pets or food, same with various other livestock out there. No difference really.
So you can always point that out to those that shake a finger at our hobby of keeping reptiles. ;D
Glad to be back, hopefully once the endless OT on my present job ends, I'll have more time to post again! http://www.afrma.org/
Great site for learning about the varying breeds and colors of rats and mice. Enjoy!
Hugs,
Amanda Rose
